PHOENIX -- Ian Kennedys first trip back to Chase Field was a little strange. NFL Jerseys China . His second was much easier -- and had a better result, too. Kennedy pitched into the sixth inning to win at Chase Field for the first time since being traded to San Diego, lifting the Padres to a 7-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. "It was a little different my first time, but this time was no different," Kennedy said. "Ive been a Padre for over a year now and it kind of goes away." After struggling his first game back in the desert a year ago, Kennedy (10-11) was sharp against his former team before making a few mistakes late, striking out six in 5 2-3 innings. Yasmani Grandal provided plenty of support, hitting a deep sacrifice fly in the first inning and clearing the wall easily in the fifth with a three-run homer off Chase Anderson (7-6). Pinch-hitter Will Venable added a two-run homer and Joaquin Benoit worked a perfect ninth for his eighth save to give San Diego manager Bud Black his 600th career win. "They (Arizona) battled back, put some stress on us," Black said. "It wasnt easy from the middle part of the game on, but our guys hung in there." Arizona fell behind early when the Padres hit Anderson hard and never fully recovered. Cliff Pennington hit a solo homer and Miguel Montero had a two-run single for the Diamondbacks, who went 1 for 6 with runners in scoring position. "We had opportunities," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "We left 10 guys out there today. They got more of their guys in than we did." Kennedy spent four seasons in Arizona, finishing fourth in the 2011 NL Cy Young Award voting and winning 48 games before being traded to San Diego at the deadline last season. The right-hander pitched at Chase Field for the first time since the trade last Aug. 27, but didnt factor in the decision after allowing six runs on six hits in 4 2-3 innings. Kennedy was sharp early against the Diamondbacks this time, striking out five the first four innings. He made a couple of pitches he would have liked back in the sixth inning, allowing Arizona to load the bases before Montero lined a two-run single up the middle. Ender Inciarte chased Kennedy with a run-scoring double in the sixth inning that cut San Diegos lead to 5-3. Kennedy allowed three runs on eight hits. "He had really good command today," Gibson said. "His breaking ball and his changeup, he mixed it in good." Anderson had the shortest outing of his career the last time out, allowing six runs on six hits in two innings of an 8-1 loss to Washington on Tuesday. The Padres hit the rookie right-hander hard in the first two innings, scoring a pair of runs in the opening frame on (Seth) Smiths groundout and a sacrifice fly by Grandal. Anderson settled down for a few innings, then walked three in the third to set up Grandals 11th home, a three-run shot that put the Padres up 5-0. Anderson allowed five runs -- four earned -- on six hits and struck out five in five innings. "I kind of lost the feel in that fifth inning," Anderson said. "I cant really tell you why." BUDS 600 Black joined select company by becoming the second San Diego manager to win 600 games, though he didnt know about the milestone until he was told after the game. "Its a tribute to the players, the coaches, the organization," Black said. "Its a round number. I like 601 better." Black is second on the Padres all-time list behind the 951 games Bruce Bochy won with San Diego from 1995-2006. MONTERO VS. SAN DIEGO Monetro went 1 for 4 on Sunday, extending his hitting streak against the Padres to nine games. Hes 11 for 32 with 10 RBIs in that span and also has a seven-game hitting streak at Chase Field. TRAINERS ROOM Diamondbacks: INF Chris Owings played second base Saturday night while going 2 for 4 at the plate in a rehab game with Triple-A Reno. He has been a shortstop, but the Diamondbacks are taking a look at him playing second. UP NEXT: Padres: LHP Eric Stults, Mondays starter against Milwaukee, has allowed three or fewer earned runs in 10 of his last 11 starts. Diamondbacks: The Diamondbacks have a day off before starting a two-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. RHP Trevor Cahill start on Tuesday after going 2-0 with a 2.33 ERA his past four starts. NFL Jerseys Cheap . Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points, Shawn Marion had 22 and the Mavericks beat undermanned Philadelphia 124-112 Friday night, handing the 76ers their 10th straight loss. NFL Authentic Jerseys . George Hill had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Pacers, who stayed atop the overall NBA standings despite losing twice on their West Coast trip. Los Angeles kept it close into the second half before the Pacers finished an easy win over the injury-riddled Lakers, who have lost five straight. http://www.nflchinajerseysauthenticcheap.com/ .com) - Its fair to call Mike McCarthy one of the best coaches in the NFL but its also more than objective to point out that the veteran mentor bookended the Green Bay Packers season with two, truly awful game plans in Seattle. LAVAL, Que. -- Debate raged all summer over who would be the next captain of the Montreal Canadiens. And when the decision was announced Monday it was ... nobody. General manager Marc Bergevin said the team will go with four alternate captains rather than have one player wear the C. "Its not the end of the world," he said. "The way were going will be good for our team." The four alternates will be defencemen Andrei Markov and P.K. Subban and forwards Tomas Plekanec and Max Pacioretty. Markov and Plekanec already wore the A, and Pacioretty had one briefly last season. Only three will wear a letter at any time. Veterans Markov and Plekanec are to have it every game, but Subban and Pacioretty will wear an A alternately -- Subban in home games and Pacioretty on the road for the first half of the season, and vice versa in the second half of the campaign. Bergevin and coach Michel Therrien want to ease Subban and Pacioretty, the teams top younger stars, into leadership roles. "Itll be a transition year as far as leadership," Bergevin said at the clubs annual charity golf tournament. "When Gionta and (Josh) Gorges left, there was a gap and I felt our young players were able to step up. "Its a chance for them to show their leadership. We feel we picked the right guys." He said it was important to settle the captaincy situation before the start of training camp to avoid it becoming a distraction, and he is not concerned that, among fans and the media, it may only prolong the speculation for another year. "Not at all," said Bergevin. "Its done. We laid it out. We talked to our players. Everybodys on board and were moving forward." If goaltenders were allowed under NHL rules to wear a letter, Carey Price would have one too. Price will sit in when Therrien has meetings with his alternate captains. "Hes part of that group," said Therrien. "Careys a good leader for us." That suits Price. "The starting goalie is always regarded as a leader on the team," he said. "Its part of the position. The guys we have selected as alternate captains are great selections." Many fans felt Subban would get the nod as captain after signing an eight-year, US$72-million contract, the richest in team history, but management felt the flamboyant 25-year-old is not quite ready for the job. The 35-year-old Markov, a Canadien since 2000, would have been a natural choice, although the Russian is not a vocal leader. Same for 31-year-old Plekanec. "Its a good decision for everybody," said Markov. "Now we can focus on hockey." Pacioretty said this week hed love to be captain, but the big winger who led the teaam with 39 goals is happy to split duties with Subban for now. Wholesale Jerseys From China. "I consider P.K. a very close friend and an unbelievable player, so its an honour for me to share a letter with him," said Pacioretty. "We have so many guys in this room who can step up and be leaders, so this is a good feeling right now." He said putting off naming a captain until next year wont be on his mind in this season. "If you look at it as an audition, you might change your personality or get outside who you are," he said. "Ive been advised to keep working on what I do on and off the ice, and stay myself. "I think the reason Im in this position is because of how Ive handled things the past couple of years." Subbans take on the announcement was: "Were confident that we have many leaders, not just one. I think its a step forward for the team. And this way, its not a distraction." It is not the first time the Canadiens have been without a captain. A tradition that dated to Jack Laviolette in 1909 was broken in 2009-10 when former coach Jacques Martin did not assign a C after Saku Koivu was not offered a contract and signed with the Anaheim Ducks. The Canadiens reached the Eastern Conference final with Markov, Gionta and Hal Gill as the three alternates, but Gionta was promoted to captain the following season. And they are not the only team to go without a captain. The Columbus Blue Jackets havent had one since Rick Nash left in 2012. The Ottawa Senators do not currently have a captain and will consider going the same route as Montreal. Bergevin also put to rest any notion that 42-year-old future Hall of Famer Martin Brodeur will sign as a free agent with his hometown team as backup to Price. Incumbent Peter Budaj and Dustin Tokarski, who was impressive when he got the nod over Budaj when Price was injured during the playoffs, are to battle for the job when camp opens on Thursday. "I have a lot of respect for Marty. Hes a great person. But at this time we are comfortable with what we have," said Bergevin. Team president Geoff Molson hopes to have some kind of celebration for Koivu, who announced his retirement last week. The 38-year-old spent his first 13 NHL seasons in Montreal and remains a popular figure for his play on the ice and his good works off it. Many fans feel the team should retire his No. 11. "First of all, I want to congratulate Saku for an unbelievable career," said Molson. " He was a great Montreal Canadien. "He was captain of our team for 10 years and he represents more than hockey to us. So, at the right moment, we look forward to hosting Saku in Montreal and giving him a good Montreal show." ' ' '
